Lots of Little Random Somethings

Finally bought some much needed things for the upcoming school year! ...like these necessary socks and slippies.

Acres are still burning here at home which has prevented me from spending lots of time outdoors and making friends with the bad air quality. So! I have found myself watching a string of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and (although not a dancer or singer by any means) Gregory Peck films. Oh yes, that's right, I'm partying like it's 1935!!!

#s:
5 days since Lucy has left (basically 5 days of MOURNING)
7 days until I move to Valencia (basically a week until I realize that I'm moving to Valencia)
3 days til Spamalot (basically 3 days until all my dreams come true!!)

Sad kitty all alone in Boston

This picture represents my anguish at no longer being near Tiffanie. I miss Los Angeles and besties and soda changs and lazy front porch days and nights. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

lurve you all.

Blake

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies         5
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?  10
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp  15
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?  20

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Old Timers

(beautiful photos I found on flickr / a good portion of my morning)

My hours got cut again at the library. I now work a whopping 15 hours a week. How am I supposed to feed the kids and pay for little Timmy's braces? Oh, economy!

But on that note, I, as well as my friend John, received a FREEEE dinner last night from my high school art teacher. Of course we went for the company and not the food (but those spicy tuna rolls and sweet potato tempura were yumyum in the tumtum). But listening to Mz. Lee tell stories about her kids, husband, teachings, and love for soft-shell crab (among many other things) was utterly fascinating and refreshing. Oh, genuineness!

And speaking of people I love, so crazy excited for Lucy to come home! Oh, besties!

Scrap(book) and Crap

A healthy mix of ticket stubs, drawings, and a parking ticket.

My one true love

A sad day--I realized, once again, that Calvin and Hobbes is over. And that there is no way to contact Bill Watterson to express my thanks for all of his beautiful work. This realization is like one of those mornings when you wake up and think, "Hmm, I need to go feed my kitty," only to have it hit you, once again, that your cat died a week ago, at which point all the saddness comes rushing back. For those of you who are dog people or who are not particularly inclined towards pets, this could also be a euphamism for other losses. Anyway. Today I really miss Calvin and Hobbes.
